Update: I'm Alive!

Hello everyone! I am pleased to announce that I am not dead. :)
I have been in Florence, Italy for the past month or so, and I am returning to Canada later today! Of course, by the time I get there it will feel like 3 am for me...

Anyway, I would like to apologize for recent inactivity, and I promise there is lots of great stuff to come!! I ordered some new Sugarpill products, which means I will certainly not be lacking in the creativity department.
I have also filmed a video tutorial for makeup on redheads, which I will edit and upload as soon as I can. Here's a teaser!
Amanda, my fave gorgeous ginger! <3

I want to thank you all for reading my blog, it means so much to me!
Also, I am, uhh, kind of going to Florida in about a week and a half... *pauses for tomato throwing*
Don't worry, I will be posting an adequate quantity of makeup madness to get us through this together!

Thanks again for all your support, and I will be back veeeery soon!

Bunogiorno from Florence, Italy!!! And I bought Kryolan...

I am never leaving this country.
Just a regular old street with small restaurants and corner stores in Florence.... OH MY GOD.
I'll just work in a gelateria forever or something.....

Anyway, while I was exploring this beautiful city with my sister, I discovered a theatrical makeup/wig/prosthetic store, called Filistrucchi. I got the feeling the store was family-owned and has been there for a while. They had a family tree dating back to the 1700's in the store, and the owners were very friendly!
They thought I was a ballerina, because I was buying theatrical makeup from a company known as.....
KRYOLAN!!!!!!!!!!!! *drool*

I couldn't resist. I just... couldn't.

What they are:

Kryolan Aqua Color (Original and UV-Dayglow) is a water-activated face paint type product. They are often used for theatrical and special effects makeup, but they also make a great bright base for mineral or other loose eyeshadows. Unlike greasepaint makeup, they don't rub off, but they do leak off the skin if it gets wet, so I don't recommend wearing these when synchronize swimming... For water-friendly makeup, try something with a waxier base, like Makeup Forever Aqua Creams.

Where you can get them:

These can be ordered from Shrinkle (Amy) off Ebay, or if you happen upon a costume store that sells them, then that's great too! Sillyfarm also sells Kryolan products.

Why my heart jumped into my throat when I saw that a store near me carries them:

Gurgle drool gargle ahhhhhhh....

Kryolan UV-Dayglow AquaColor: UV Pink (bright fuchsia pink)

Kryolan UV-Dayglow AquaColor: UV Red (crazy neon orange)

Kryolan AquaColor: 509 Yellow (a true chrome yellow)

Kryolan AquaColor: 069 Green (a dark-ish teal-based green)

Kryolan AquaColor: 10 Blue (a medium true aqua blue)

Kryolan UV-Dayglow AquaColor: UV Violet (Purple with pinkish undertones, looks less blue in real life)

Kryolan AquaColor: 070 White (creamy white)
I swatched these awesome colours over dry skin... No lotion, no base, nothing like that. I removed them with a wet wipe and my skin did not stain at ALL.
Oh.... :D

Me gusta :)
These are great for mixing because they don't dry too quickly. They are glycerine based so they apply very smoothly as well. They have a clean, soapy smell to them which is pleasant compared to some chalkier scents.

Overall, I can definitely see these coming in handy, and not just for Halloween. I didn't buy all the colours (though I should have picked up black) because I have lots of options if I simply mix the colours I do have.

If you're a colour freak like me, I'd consider picking a few shades up, or find a pre-made palette you like. These are going to work great with some Sugarpill I just ordered and will be receiving soon....
When I get back to Montreal, that is.

Well, I'm off to go cry at the Statue of David now, hope you enjoyed!
