Glowing Green Smoky Eyes (And I'm Back!)

Hey everyone!

So I've been away from Youtube/blogging for a while... crazy semester, applying for Uni, relationships, work, moving, a month traveling, getting accepted into Uni, yadda yadda yadda. I'M BACK!!!

Due to the above (i.e. no time for anything at all ever), I haven't actually worn makeup beyond mascara and maybe a bit of eyebrow and blush in a loooooong time. However, I had not disappeared from the beauty world completely!

The few minutes a day I had to myself, I still searched for some inspiration, but more through the realm of art, what with being an art student and all. Occasionally, I would happen upon a beautiful photo, like this one, and feel that familiar tingle.

Ahh, the tingle. The tingle that precedes a makeup video on my channel. The tingle that reminds me how much fun colour on a face can be.

And now that I am not having mental breakdowns every other week from academic overload, I have time to indulge in that tingle! Which brings us to this video.

Coastal Scents Hot Pot Review- Custom Palettes

Hey all! How many of you like spending more money than you need to on makeup? As you have seen in my videos and blog posts, I use eyeshadows and such from all different companies. If I find a colour I like that I don't already have or haven't seen elsewhere, I will use it. However, I don't love spending 10-20$ on unique shades...

GUESS WHO HAD A SALE ON ALREADY INEXPENSIVE PRODUCTS?!

Similar to Inglot, Coastal Scents has a system where you can built your own palettes, choosing from their large selection of eyeshadows. (Incredibly extensive! My one complaint is that they don't make a pure matte black. Not a hard one to find in general, but ya know...) They offer single pods, quads, 12-piece and 28-piece empty palettes to put these gems in.

Here are the 12 I chose! :) Swatched with a Q-tip over NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk.

YUMMM
The empty palette I chose was 5.95$ and each solo was 1.95, and I got 30% off. Not bad :)

I shall now post swatches, both in daylight and with a flash.

Watermelon, Petal Peach, Sunflower Petal, Light Yellow

Python Green, Limelight, Sea Lily, Empress Teal

Wild Wisteria, Queen's Jubilee, Love Spell, Fancy Pansy

So I got each of these colours for specific reasons. Mainly I chose tertiary shades I could use as in-between colours and for blending. The only 2 colours that surprised me when I got them were Petal Peach and Sunflower Petal. I expected Petal Peach to be less neutral, more of a pastel orangey-coral colour. I thought Sunflower Petal would be just a bit more on the orange side. Nevertheless, I am incredibly pleased with the uniqueness and vibrancy of these!

They are soft and smooth, really easily blended. I do find I need the NYX  Jumbo Pencil in Milk to get them to stick better, like with any bright eyeshadow. When I use the peachy shade to blend a brown colour out, in my crease, it adds a lovely warmth to the eye look.

These are ridiculously affordable and surprisingly good quality! As with any online purchase, try to compare all the pictures and chose the colours you want. So happy I have these!

Acid Green Tutorial

Hey there!
Anyone realize that I like colour? In case you were unaware, I do!

Now, it can be kind of funny when you wear eye makeup that is the same hue as your eyes for a few reasons. If you have green eyes like me, green eyeshadow can really bring out the brightness of the green in your eyes. It depends on if your eyes are more on the yellow side or more on the blue side, or grey. If you want to pop the colour of your eyes, use eyeshadow that has the OPPOSITE undertone.

My eyes are more on the blue-grey side so I used bright yellow-lime greens.

If you don't have green eyes, well phooey!

Funky Purple and Turquoise Tutorial

Hey there...
As I mention in the tutorial, I dont really wear purple eyeshadow much anymore, because my hair is purple. I feel like purple hair, purple eyebrows and purple eyeshadow is just.... too grape-like for my personal taste.

But hey, maybe it works for you.

Anyway, I have enough purple eyeshadow to cater to an army of non purple-haired people, and I hate neglecting how preeeeeetty it looks on! To give it a little something to balance out the purple overload, i added a pop of teal to my lower lashline (I wonder if anyone guessed that there are my two favourite colours).

Hope you enjoy!

Soooooooo sorry about not posting in forEVER. I got caught up with mah studies and job and holidays etc and I could come up with some more excuses to bore you with buuuuuuut...

On with the tutorial. :)

I know red and pink eyeshadow frightens some, so I tried to find a way to rock the awesome brights in a not-so-intimidating way, using my usual method/placement of eyeshadows... Light on the lid, dark in the crease, blablablaaaa.

Deeeerp, I know.
This colourful makeup look is inspired by the fire in the sky I saw while I was there.

I realize it is not wearable for everyone, but I am a total sucker for funky colours. Hope you like it! Send me requests and comments :)

Retro Pop: Colour Blocking

Colour.
My life is empty without it. However, there are a hundred ways to do it wrong. Trending this spring are strong blocks of colour on the face, which can be tricky if not blended properly.
I decided to try one of the hardest colours to blend; green!

 Closeup!
The trick is to concentrate the colour to one region; eyes, lips, or cheeks. Not all of them at once! SOOO, if you like intense green on the eyes like I do, keep the lips neutral. :)

Products Used:

Face:
-Makeup Forever Matte Velvet+ Foundation
-Cover FX full coverage cream foundation M40 (under eyes)
-Inglot loose powder
-Tarte bronzer in Park Ave Princess
-Nars blush in Orgasm

Eyes:
-UDPP
-NYX jumbo pencil in Milk (white creamy pencil blended over the eyelid to help the shadow stick better)
-Inglot eyeshadow #59 (crazy lime green backed on top of the white)
-Inglot eyeshadow # 30 (shimmery white-gold on inner corners and browbone)
-Urban Decay eyeshadow in Naked (nude skin tone blended into and above green)
-MAC eyeshadow in Charcoal Brown (lower lashes, eyebrows)
-Rimmel Glam'Eyes black liquid liner
-Revlon GrowLuscious mascara

Lips:
-Jack Black lemon lip balm

Don't be afraid of colour!

Spring Trends! Pop of Colour, Cat eyes, Soft Lips

In spring right now, lots of new trends are emerging...
-Over-the-top smoky eyes
-Baby-like flawless dewy skin
-Soft natural lip colour
-Pop of colour on the eyes
-Strong blush and contouring
-Wispy doll lashes
-Cat eyeliner, maybe in different colours
-Strong eyebrows
-Glitter

My next few looks will embody some of these trends. Doing all of them all at once with one look would be a bit crazy.

So the trends in bold are the ones I used in this look. Hope you enjoy my interpretation!

Closeup!
I have green eyes. On any colour wheel you can find on Google, you will see that the opposite of green is red. I don't know about you but I don't have the time to attempt making red eyeshadow not look like an infection... So I went for pink!

Products Used:

Face:
-Maybelline Fit Me foundation #210 mixed with MUFE HD #128
-Cover FX Full Coverage Cream foundation in M40 (under eyes)
-Laura Mercier Matte Translucent Powder
-Tarte bronzer in Park Ave Princess
-NYX Mosaic Powder in Love
-MAC eyeshadow in Charcoal Brown (eyebrows)

Eyes:
-UDPP
-Urban Decay eyeshadow in Sin (pressed on the main lids)
-Inglot eyeshadow #361 (matte peachy pink blended generously in the crease)
-Inglot eyeshadow #495 (deep bright pink in the crease and lower lashline, blended into lighter pink)
-Inglot eyeshadow #74 (deep red-purple mixed with the hot pink etched in the deep crease)
-Inglot eyeshadow #351 (matte cream on browbone)
-Lise Watier loose shadow in Folie Blanche (shimmery sparkly white on inner corners)
-Rimmel GlamEyes Liquid black eyeliner (cat lines)
-Anabelle white eyeliner pencil (waterline)

Lips:
-Jack Black Lemon Lip Balm
-Nars lipstick in Dolce Vita (BEST NATURAL LIP COLOUR FOR OLIVE SKIN TONES EVER)

So have fun and try out some of these trends! But don't spend all your money like I do.

In the Mood for Summer Brights

I don't expect to see anyone wearing this to the grocery store, but if you suffer from overactive makeup disorder like me, sometimes this kind of thing may happen to your face.
Now don't get scared!
I think I might just start going all out with drag makeup
Closeup...
Eyes closed... obviously
I used yellow and orange because they are analogous on the colour wheel. The look nice together and blend in together easily too. Try this with blue and green!

Products Used

Face:
-Foundation, Concealer, Powder
-Nars blush in Orgasm
-Tarte bronzer for contouring

Eyes:
-UDPP
-NYX jumbo pencil in Milk (blended creamy white pencil all over the eyelid to make the matte eyeshadows pop, and in waterline)
-Inglot eyeshadow #474 (light creamy yellow packed onto the main eyelid area)
-Inglot eyeshadow #60 (bright yellow blended in the crease and outer corner)
-Inglot eyeshadow #51 (bright orange etched in the crease)
-Nars eyeshadow duo in Scorching Sun (matte light orange used to blend orange into yellow)
-Inglot eyeshadow #496 (sparkly white on inner corners)
-Inglot eyeshadow #351 (matte cream shade on the browbone)

Lips:
-Nothing

So try playing with colour! Apparently, it's "in" this summer. That's what my co-workers at  Forever 21 tell me, anyway.

Vibrant Pink and Blue

Because I can.
So this is a basic blue cut-crease fading up to the brow, with a bright pink on the lids. I decided to keep the lower lashline clear because a) the eyes are already insane, and b) I was short on time.

Bear i mind that I had some trouble getting the lighting just right.

I also forgot lips gloss, but I will be posting soon about deciding what lip colour or product to wear along with different eye makeup.

Are you READY?!

Ahh, okay, not so crazy...
 Closeups!

WOAH!!!!!!

Shinyyy

Look More Awake

There is a bug going around. I happened to catch it along with everyone else I know.
I woke up this morning feeling and looking absolutely awful, but thanks to a few tricks, I was able to hide it a bit without spending more than 10 minutes getting ready!

Look alive, pretend you're not sick!
I did not want to overdo the concealer under my eyes because I think you should be seeing the person, not the makeup, not the cold.

10 tips on looking more awake:
  1. Make sure all of your makeup is completely removed at night.
  2. Wear less foundation so your skin looks more like skin. Focus on moisturizing well.
  3. Concentrate concealer on spots that need it most... pimples, under-eye circles.
  4. Do not apply makeup around your nose if you will be using lots of tissue. A little Vaseline at night will help with the redness and dryness and you won't feel like you need to apply so much makeup.
  5. Apply a light eyeliner pencil to your waterline (white or flesh-toned) to open up the eyes.
  6. Add a light colour to your inner corners for more light and drag it slightly up to orbital bone to eliminate darkness there.
  7. Do not wear a lot, if any, darker makeup on the bottom of the eye. It will draw attention to dark circles.
  8. Concentrate definition on the upper lashes to lift tired eyes. A winged eyeliner (angled upwards, never down) will help with this.
  9. Apply a blush with a little bit of shimmer to it so your cheeks glow rather than look dull. Or, use a highlight along with your blush.
  10. Avoid heavy contouring of any kind... face, eyes, anything.
Products used:

Face:
-No foundation
-Cover FX Full Cover Cream Foundation # M40 (used as concealer on a few acne scars and dark circles)
-MAC Mineralize Blush in Dainty (a rosy blush with gold shimmer)
-Laura Mercier Matte Translucent Powder (all over face for even texture)
-MAC Eyeshadow in Charcoal Brown (eyebrows)

Eyes:
-Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner in Denim Ink (upper lashline)
-Body Shop Duo Mineral Eyeshadow in Sapphire (I used the sparkly navy colour on top of the eyeliner for fun)
-NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk (lower waterline, inner corners)
-Laura Mercier loose shadow in Folie Blanche (inner corners on top of pencil)
-L'Oreal Carbon Black Mascara

Lips:
MAC Lipstick Viva Glam VI (a shiny medium plummy pink similar to my natural lip colour, only better)

Bold Valentine's Day Look

Anyone who knows me knows I love vibrant makeup... Sometimes I border on Drag! Looks like this one do NOT intimidate me at all. I adore colour! If this freaks you out too much, but a soft gold wash on the eyes like my last Valentine's day look is not enough for you, I will post a moderate-intensity look soon.
This was the look I wore when I went to Sephora that one time before Christmas and accidentally bought a really good brush, which I used today for my foundation!

The inspiration for the colours is obvious...

Whoah!
I had a little trouble with the lighting in this next photo...

Hmm.
Closeups!

Purple!
 More!
Pink!

Finally I put my Sugarpill to use.

Products used:

-Lancome Teinte Miracle in Bisque 7
-Makeup Forever HD Foundation #117 (mixed them together)
-Bobbi Brown Tinted Eye Brightener in Bisque (under eyes)
-Cover FX Total Coverage Cream Foundation in M40 (under eyes)
-Laura Mercier Matte Translucent Smooth Focus Pressed Setting Powder Shine Control
-NYX Mosaic Powder in Love
-MAC Eyeshadow in Charcoal Brown

New Inglot Setup!

Before Inglot became popular on YouTube, I become clinically dependent upon their delectable shadows.
Seriously. I bought one or two new colours ever couple of weeks.

This was my former setup.... It consists of one large empty Inglot palette without slots for the pans, and two CD cases that I taped a magnetic sheet to. Pale neutrals in one case, dark neutrals in the other, and colours were in the huge one (which is now discontinued! WHY?!).

Inglot squares, large circles, small circles; Makeup Forever 92; Urban Decay

To avoid continuing on with my addiction, I finally decided to purchase the Freedom System palettes!!!
That way, I have no place to put new eyeshadows unless I save up to buy a whole new palette.

Well anyway, here they are! I already had the eyeshadows.

They look messy.... it just means they are well-loved!
BoomBoom! BoomBoom! BoomBoom! BoomBoom!

Now now, I can't have photos napping on the job.... must fix this

What I really like about these palettes is that you can arrange the colours any way you want, which often inspires makeup looks for me.
They can be rearranged, but the magnet is so strong that I had to  use a nail file to pop them out... Which resulted in some tragic gouging of heavenly eyeshadow.

The pigmentation of the matte colours and matte-with-sparkle-but-no-shimmer colours is very unique... Over ordinary primer with an ordinary brush, they may seem mediocre depending on the particular shade. But layered over a suuuuper thin, well blended out creamy base, the pigment just grabs on for dear life and literally shakes with vibrancy! I find them easy to blend.

The shimmer/frosty colours are breathtaking.
I can't even discuss it.
Swatcheroos....

493: Lighter matte lilac in real life with a bit of sparkle.
439: Deep purple with cool blue shimmer
28: Icy blue with silver and blue shimmer
371: Ridiculous matte electric blue
473: Matte teal-turquoise with a golden sparkle

474: Lighter, smooth matte yellow with gold sparkle
60: Mustard, similar to Chrome Yellow by MAC with a golden sparkle
59: Lime-yellow-green that walks all over every other lime green I've ever had
58: Slightly dark matte grass green with gold and green sparkle
06: Olive with golden shimmer

07: Light shimmery gold with peachy undertone
405: Shimmery peachy bronze
406: Shimmery toasty bronze
409: Yummy shimmery deep bronze
402: Medium shimmery plum colour, good for blending out purples

361: Light, matte peachy pink like a pink rose petal
407: Coral with gold shimmer
51: Vivid, matte carrot orange
495:Matte red hot pink with gold sparkle
74: Matte deeper magenta with peachy sparkle

Gorgeous colours! There is something for everyone, trust me. By now I've been in the store over 40 times and covered my arm with every colour in there!!! So go in, have fun, their eyeshadows are only 10$ each compared to the 13 something at MAC, with almost twice the product.
